Biographical Sketch

Dr. Sexton is a chemical engineer with over eleven years of experience in the energy industry, including carbon dioxide capture processes. Worked under the supervision of Dr. Gary Rochelle researching the effects of oxidation on CO₂ capture solvents, and hired by CSIRO to develop similar capabilities.

Selected professional experience is noted below:

  • Area lead for detailed design, construction and commissioning of > 1 BB$ capital project for a silicon refining client, working with multi-disciplinary team of engineering groups in the US, China and India
  • Process design, fabrication and testing of skidded CO₂ pumping and heating units for pilot-scale CO₂ sequestration overseas
  • Evaluation of new technologies, novel process configurations and novel solvents for CO₂ capture, including feasibility and economic analysis
  • Detailed process design, operating procedures, safety reviews, commissioning and operational support for pilot-scale CO₂ capture technology
  • Consult with subcommittee members from major U.S. trade association: assess field data and propose alternative rules to existing government legislation
  • Liaison to provide technical input to clients in developing air permit applications for state environmental agency
  • Manage multi-company project team: perform white paper evaluation for International Energy Agency Greenhouse Gas Association
  • Managed and led technical work in subcontract to provide front-end engineering design support for novel process to recover precious metals from spent electronics in overseas location
  • Provided process engineering support to gas processing, biogas processing, refining, silicon refining, silicon specialty products, CO₂ processing, and geothermal energy industries
